My little workroom is full of color and a merry chaos; beads, buttons, ribbon, thread, and fabric. It is also full of memories and dreams.

Let's begin with the items which hold the memories. I have some treasured items from my family; my mother's desk; my dad's bureau, a fabulous watercolor of chickens painted by my great-aunt Emma. A cherub candelabra from my cherished aunt, Lulla. A color chart by another great-aunt who was an artist. A wooden cigar box from my amazing Uncle Carlie. I can still smell his cigars.

There are vintage cards purchased from Etsy shops and inscribed with love from some dear family long ago. Vintage buttons and beads. Vintage ribbon and paper. All of these items hold a history that feels like a solid foundation to me. Beautifully made items that passed through many hands and many years to come here to this time and my workroom. A little magic in that journey, I think.

Then there are the dream builders. The books filled with lessons and guidance. The gorgeous handmade artwork, felted critters, beautiful ribbon, and jewelry findings crafted by fellow Etsians. A bulletin board loaded with business cards, handwritten thank-you notes, and little goodies that were tucked in with my purchases. Simple kindness and shared optimism.

Boxes of beads waiting to be used. Photos of my friends and family. A little wooden and wire holder that my brother Craig made to hold the bracelets while I add the charms. Tools ready to be picked up and used. My iPod. These are the things that lift my spirits because when everything works together I create a piece of jewelry that I am proud to sell in this amazing community.
